Make Oreos Fairtrade!

Most of the chocolate products we eat are not Fairtrade. This means that the people who grow the cocoa beans and pick them are not paid- and if they are, not enough to properly support their families. Many of these people are basically slaves. Many chocolate companies make a massive profit off these people.

We want to change this- if every chocolate company used fairly traded chocolate beans, then thousands of farmers and their workers could afford decent housing, essential medicine, water pumps and for their children to go to school. These people live in poverty, and we want to change that. Switching to Fairtrade doesn't even cost that much- a few pennies more a chocolate bar. And it won't harm the industry either- it'll actually make it better for all involved.

Some companies have fairtrade products available- Cadbury's plain Dairy Milk and buttons are fairtrade, and so are Nestle's four-finger Kit-Kats. All Divine chocolate is fairly traded. But what about other, equally popular products? We want to make Oreo's fairtrade, so it will be not only easier for fairtrade lovers to indulge and not feel guilty, but it will also make fairtrade even cooler and even more widely available than it is already.

If we take it one step at a time, we can change the world for the better. Make sure you invite as many people as possible to join us!
